Brag A Little

Just a quick update

Sadie...
  • consistently spells her first and last name correctly.
  • can identify her first name in print.
  • can identify all the letters of the alphabet (even in a random order)
  • counts everything and can count to 29 (when she gets to 29, she says 29....20! She doesn't believe me that the next number is 30)
  • knows her birthday.
  • is obsessed with birthdays and always wants to know whose birthday is next.
  • will take her clothes to the laundry room.
  • will clean up her toys, but needs a lot of encouragement.
  • is always up by 6:30AM.
  • goes to bed between 7:00 - 8:00PM.
  • likes to look at books and understands that the letters on the pages make up words. (When I ask Sadie to read to me she says, "But I don't know the words!"
  • likes to help with laundry. (Sadie helps sort laundry, load the washing machine, and pushes the buttons on the washing machine.)
  • loves the Chipmunks and sings Vacation (all the time)
  • is a mover and a shaker.
  • can put her shoes on the correct feet.
  • likes to pick out her own clothes in the morning.
  • will not jump in the pool at swimming lessons or at her Grandparents' house.
  • loves to snuggle.
  • enjoys eating popcorn and watching movies. (At home or at a theater)
When I was looking at pictures today while working on her Shutterfly album, I was so surprised at how grown up she looks now versus last year. It is amazing the change in one short year.

Sadie will soon be a big sister and I think she will be fabulous! Her brother is one lucky baby to have her as a sister!

21 Links to Go

The countdown has begun. We have 21 links to go until baby boy Jones arrives. To help Sadie understand how long we have until her baby brother is born we have created a chain of links. Each link equals one day and every day we remove one link and talk about being one day closer to the birth of baby brother.

While on Vacation

So we have been on vacation for a week and I have only pulled out my camera one day! I am usually so much better at documenting our vacations and the fun that Sadie has with her cousins. But this time I just didn't do a great job. I still have a few more days so I will try to do better!

Sadie and I went to the Children's Museum with my dear college friend Stephanie and her daughter, LP. Sadie loved the museum and getting to play with LP. They had a blast and were not happy when it was time to leave.

Playing in the farm house.

The cow you could milk. Sadie was not interested in milking this cow.

Hard at work.

Water Play

At the end of a busy day, still smiling for some family and individual photos.

Sadie has had a great trip visiting with her family. She loved jumping on the trampoline with her cousins and having cousin M put make up on her.

The best times are the simple acts of friendship and kindness we share with each other.

Sadie Sleeps in A Big Big Girl Bed

Sadie is currently sleeping away in a full size bed. I just can't believe that we are done with the crib/toddler bed. Over the weekend, Sadie picked out a great bedding set. The sheets are multi-colored polka dots and the comforter is multi-colored hearts. It is very cute. I'll try to take a picture soon. In the meantime, here is the bedding set as pictured on target.com.

Witches

So for the past week, Sadie has been sleeping on the floor. She refuses to sleep in her bed. At first we put her in her bed and we would find her on the floor later in the evening. Then we just gave in and let her sleep on the floor. We asked her why she wouldn't sleep in her bed and she said she was scared of the two witches. Well today K and I both had an idea - he decided we should scare the witches away and I decided we should move her bed. So we did both...she enjoyed scaring the witches away with us and K even had her check to make sure they were gone. Then we moved her bed and she was happy as a clam! I'll update you later - we will see if she makes it through the night in bed.

Music Class

Sadie and I have been attending a music class at a nearby school on Saturday mornings. Halfway through the first class Sadie wanted to leave. I spent that first class wrangling her and keeping her from playing all the instruments that she was not supposed to touch. I was exhausted and thinking to myself- what did I get myself into!? As the weeks went on, she began to listen and engage with the activities. I was no longer wrangling her, but we were enjoying the class together.

We signed up for another session of the class and I am amazed at her growth. She remembers the songs and her teachers name. She looks forward to music class each week. What I love the most is to hear her sing the songs at home, in the car, and while out and about. There is something really special about a little girl singing. Her voice is just so sweet.

This weekend while we were leaving Costco, she was singing and this lady in front of us turned around and told Sadie, "What a beautiful singing voice you have." What a nice compliment, of course I was as proud as can be.

Easter

WOW! What a fun day we had.
The day started by finding the Easter basket that the Easter Bunny hid somewhere in the house.
Sadie was quick to find it. I have to remember that she is growing up and is actually a very good dectective. Next year the Easter Bunny will have to do a better job hiding the basket...well and the eggs too!

Found the Easter basket in the toy room. She picked out her own PJs.

 A Veggie Greenhouse.
She's been looking at the seeds everyday to see if the tomatoes have started to grow.

Easter morning bike ride with Grandpa and Grandma.

 Egg hunt!

Holidays are so fun. Sadie really gets into all the festivities.

February Picture

OK - Bad Mom.
One picture taken in February, no pictures taken in March.
Whoops.

Must do better!

Happy 3rd Birthday Sadie

We celebrated Sadie's 3rd birthday on January 29th this year. We were so blessed to have our friends and family join us to celebrate.

I did not do a good job taking pictures of all the decorations- but the house was all DORA!!
Sadie loved it.

Having fun outside. The weather was beautiful!
